Christmas Oratorio - Weihnacht a cappella, Leipzig, 22 Dec 2026

Christmas Oratorio - Weihnacht a cappella is a Christmas concert by the Calmus Ensemble at Evangelisch Reformierte Kirche zu Leipzig in Leipzig on 22 December 2026, 19:30. The programme, titled "Christmas Oratorio", features works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Josef Rheinberger, Camille Saint-Saëns, Harald Banter and others. The ensemble approaches Bach's Weihnachtsoratorium in a chamber-music way, with selected chorales at the centre of the concert.

Bach's music is set alongside works from different eras and styles that all tell the Christmas story: Bob Chilcott (Christmas Oratorio), Josef Rheinberger (Der Stern von Bethlehem), Camille Saint-Saëns (Oratorio de Noël) and Harald Banter (Die Weihnachtsgeschichte). Bob Chilcott is a former King's Singer, and Rheinberger was a contemporary of Brahms. Tickets start at EUR 30.90, and a discount is available.
