Der Seelenbrecher at Kriminaltheater, Berlin, 20 December 2026

A week later they are found physically unharmed but mentally broken. The press calls the person responsible the "Seelenbrecher". Shortly before Christmas the culprit strikes again, this time in a psychiatric clinic in Berlin Wannsee, where he was admitted unnoticed together with the patients.

A snowstorm cuts the clinic off from the outside world, and doctors and patients face a night of terror in which nobody knows who the culprit is and nobody can leave. The play is based on Sebastian Fitzek's "Der Seelenbrecher". The Berliner Kriminal Theater specialises entirely in crime stories and thrillers.

It was founded by Wolfgang Rumpf and Wolfgang Seppelt, and its ensemble has performed since 2000. In 2003 the theatre moved into the Umspannwerk Ost building complex in Berlin Friedrichshain, where it still performs.
