Losers, a dance and performance premiere by Enad Marouf, takes place at Sophiensæle (Festsaal) in Berlin on 2 November 2026, 19:00. The piece runs about one hour and is performed in English and Arabic. It combines text, dance and music through a cinematic lens and invites the audience to trace a moment of political loss.
Enad Marouf draws on writings that tell history from the standpoint of the oppressed and defeated: Walter Benjamin's On the Concept of History (1940) and Arwa Salih's The Stillborn (1996). Salih writes about the aftermath of the Egyptian Marxist student movement of 1972. Losers asks how defeat might become a space for reflection and for imagining togetherness otherwise.
Enad Marouf is responsible for concept and choreography. The performers are Ronald Alonso Berger, jee chan and Kiana Rezvani, with voices by Majdoleen Shalgheen and Bassyma Saad and music by Cem Dukka. Tickets start at EUR 25, and a discount is available.
The performance lasts about one hour.
