Marlene Dietrich – Irgendwo auf der Welt, a musical and literary homage at Stalburg Theater in Frankfurt on 11 November 2026 at 20:00. Tickets from EUR 29.
Marlene Dietrich – Irgendwo auf der Welt is a musical and literary homage staged at Stalburg Theater in Frankfurt on 11 November 2026 at 20:00. It combines texts by Erich Maria Remarque with music by F. Holaender, J. Brel, P. Seeger and others. Ingrid El Sigai performs vocals and recitation, Markus Neumeyer plays piano and wrote the arrangements, and Tobias Rüger plays saxophone.
The evening tells a story through the words of a writer, presenting an excerpt from the life of Marlene Dietrich. At the end of the 1930s Remarque had a relationship with Marlene and worked this unhappy love into his book "Arc de Triomphe". The main character Joan Madou is Marlene Dietrich, and Ravic, an immigrant living in Paris, is Remarque.
Songs that Marlene Dietrich sang, such as "Ich bin die fesche Lola" and "Lili Marleen", accompany the excerpts. Chansons she did not sing, but which relate to her and the people around her, are also played.
The arrangements are meant to recall the sound of the 1920s and 1930s, while some songs also receive techniques from modern avant-garde and popular music. Tickets start from EUR 29, and a discount is available.
On 11 November 2026 at 20:00 at Stalburg Theater, Glauburgstr. 80, Frankfurt.
