Therese Giehse - Courage! in Frankfurt, 26 February 2027

Therese Giehse - Courage! is a musical and staged evening at Volksbühne im Großen Hirschgraben: Studiobühne in Frankfurt on Friday, 26 February 2027, at 19:30. Ulrike Kinbach continues her series on queer cabaret and theatre artists with this programme, following her earlier programme "Claire Waldoff - anders als die Andern".

Ulrike Kinbach and Vassily Dück on accordion approach Therese Giehse through texts and songs by Bert Brecht, Kurt Weill and Hans Eisler, and from the repertoire of Die Pfeffermühle. They view her through her stage characters, her companions and the perspective of her dog Daisy. The evening moves between comedy and tragedy, resistance and despair, home and exile.

Therese Giehse (1898-1975) worked with Bert Brecht and Peter Stein and stood alongside Erika Mann in the cabaret ensemble Die Pfeffermühle. In 1933 she emigrated to Switzerland.

Tickets start at EUR 25, and a discount is available. The production is directed by Sarah Groß, with dramaturgy by Jo van Nelsen.
