Therese Giehse - Courage! - Premiere in Frankfurt, 18 February

Therese Giehse - Courage! - Premiere is a musical and staged evening at Volksbühne im Großen Hirschgraben: Studiobühne in Frankfurt on 18 February 2027, 19:30. Tickets start at EUR 28, and a discount is available.

With this programme Ulrike Kinbach continues her series on queer cabaret and theatre artists, following her programme "Claire Waldoff - anders als die Andern". Ulrike Kinbach and Vassily Dück on accordion approach Therese Giehse (1898-1975) through music and scenes, using texts and songs by Bert Brecht, Kurt Weill and Hans Eisler and pieces from the repertoire of Die Pfeffermühle. The evening views Giehse through her stage characters, her companions and the perspective of her dog Daisy.

It moves between comedy and tragedy, resistance and despair, home and exile. Giehse worked with Bert Brecht and Peter Stein.

Therese Giehse performed alongside Erika Mann in the cabaret ensemble Die Pfeffermühle and emigrated to Switzerland in 1933. Sarah Groß directs, Jo van Nelsen is responsible for dramaturgy, and Vassily Dück provides musical direction.
