La Casa De Bernarda Alba at Teatro Serrano, Madrid

Inside its walls, obedience and appearances rule every corner, while the desires, dreams and passions of the people living there struggle to break through. Each daughter responds differently to Bernarda's authority, from resignation and submission to open rebellion. Family conflicts, jealousy and frustration grow until they become unbearable.

Pepe el Romano is the catalyst for these emotions. He is engaged to Angustias, the eldest daughter from Bernarda's first marriage, and is also the lover of Adela, Bernarda's youngest daughter. The play was written in 1936 by Federico García Lorca, and it premiered and was published in 1945 in Buenos Aires.
