FRED WESLEY & THE NEW JB'S perform at Union Chapel in London on 11 May 2027, 19:00. The concert is presented by AGMP Concerts, and tickets start from GBP 43.65. The band is back to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the album 'A Blow For Me, A Toot To You', which came out in 1977 under the name Fred Wesley & The Horny Horns featuring Maceo Parker.

Fred Wesley produced the album together with George Clinton and Bootsy Collins. Fred Wesley and The J.B. 's were a funk band of the 1970s that helped shape the sound of James Brown.

Led by trombonist, arranger and bandleader Fred Wesley, the group included Maceo Parker, Jimmy Nolen, Clyde Stubblefield and John 'Jabo' Starks. Their recordings include Pass the Peas, Gimme Some More, Doing It to Death, Damn Right I Am Somebody, Breakin' Bread and Blow Your Head. Their 1973 release Doing It to Death reached #1 on the American R&B chart.

Fred Wesley later joined George Clinton's Parliament-Funkadelic collective. Hip-hop acts including Public Enemy, Eric B. & Rakim and De La Soul sampled the J.B. 's rhythms and horn breaks.
