Professor David Olusoga at Worthing Assembly Hall on 7 November 2026

Professor David Olusoga gives a talk, The Global History of the British Cup of Tea, at Worthing Assembly Hall in Worthing on 7 November 2026, at 19:30. The talk is new for 2026 and draws on art and photography, history and humour to trace the history of tea. It links over 350 years of British history to the histories of China, India, the Caribbean, and the United States, and covers the Boston Tea Party, the Opium Wars, and the history of the British East India Company.

It also takes in industrial espionage and a vast forgotten migration within India. A Q&A and book signing follow the presentation, and books are available to purchase at the event. Tickets start at GBP 24.

David Olusoga is a producer, author, historian and presenter who has won a BAFTA. He is Professor of Public History at the University of Manchester and the author or co-author of eight books, including Black & British: A Forgotten History.
