Their debut album, The State of Things, came out in 2007 and produced the UK top 10 single "Heavyweight Champion of the World". Their seventh album, Heatwave in the Cold North, appeared in 2023 and gave the band its first Top 10 album in the UK in 16 years.

Early in their career, the band supported the Arctic Monkeys on a UK tour in April 2006 that was sold out. Their own first UK tour in May and June 2006 also sold out dates in Shoreditch, London and at The Plug in Sheffield.
