Soen: Swedish progressive metal band

Soen is a Swedish progressive metal band that was formed in 2010. The current lineup is vocalist Joel Ekelöf, guitarist Cody Lee Ford, bassist Stefan Stenberg, drummer Martin Lopez and keyboardist Lars Åhlund. The band is signed to Silver Lining and has put out seven studio albums.

The group's beginnings were announced in May 2010, though it had initially come together in 2004. That first lineup brought together drummer Martin Lopez, bassist Steve Di Giorgio, vocalist Joel Ekelöf and guitarist Joakim Platbarzdis. October 2010 saw the release of the band's first song, "Fraccions", on its official website, and in February 2012 the first video, for "Savia", appeared on the band's Facebook page.

Martin Lopez has described the music as "melodic, heavy, intricate and very different than everything else. " The debut album, Cognitive, came out in February 2012 and drew positive critical reception, with reviewers praising the members' technical proficiency most while noting strong stylistic similarities to Tool.
