All of their U.S. hits were ballads marked by the falsetto of Russell Thompkins Jr. and the production of Thom Bell. In the early 1970s the group had twelve consecutive R&B top ten hits, including "Stop, Look, Listen", "You Are Everything" and "Betcha by Golly, Wow".

"You Make Me Feel Brand New" was their biggest U.S. hit, holding at No. 2 for two weeks in 1974. As their U.S.

success waned, their popularity in Europe, and especially the United Kingdom, increased, and "Can't Give You Anything (But My Love)" reached U.K. number 1 in 1975.
