An Evening with Sandro William Junqueira is a literary reading and discussion at the James Joyce Centre in Dublin on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, at 18:30. The Portuguese writer talks about his new novel, The Architecture of Fear. Sinéad Mac Aodha, Director of Literature Ireland, moderates the conversation.
The evening is organised by the Embassy of Portugal to Ireland in collaboration with Literature Ireland. Book enthusiasts and members of the Portuguese-speaking community in Ireland are welcome. The event is free, but booking is essential.
The novel is set in a city surrounded by walls at the heart of a forest, where the people are haunted by the memory of The Great Disaster, which eliminated two thirds of their population. A dictatorial regime insists that order and discipline will protect them from the threats of nature.
Sandro William Junqueira is a Portuguese writer, theatre director and drama teacher. His novel There Are No Lemons in Heaven (No Céu não há Limões) was a finalist for the 2015 Portuguese Writers' Association's Grand Prize for Fiction.
