Topos: Sokratis Sinopoulos and Yann Keerim

Topos: Sokratis Sinopoulos and Yann Keerim is a live music concert at Triskel Arts Centre in Cork on 25 October 2026, at 14:30. It forms part of ECM Cork 2026. Tickets cost €30 or €28. The Greek duo pair the lyra with the piano, an uncommon combination of instruments. They have worked together for a long time in the Sokratis Sinopoulos Quartet. In their duet they take musical material apart and put it back together, bringing out its melodic, rhythmic and harmonic patterns and developing them through improvisation. This creates links with the musical traditions of the Balkans and Eastern Europe, as well as with contemporary music. In the Topos project the two musicians present a new interpretation of Béla Bartók's "Six Romanian Folk Dances". The result is a work of full concert length that also includes musical themes composed by the two musicians, echoing Béla Bartók's Romanian dances. The Topos album was released in October 2025 by ECM Records (ECM 2847).
