Trygve Seim & Tord Gustavsen: Inner Chorals

Trygve Seim & Tord Gustavsen: Inner Chorals is a concert at Triskel Arts Centre in Cork on 25 October 2026, starting at 18:30. It is part of Triskel International Jazz Programme 2026. Two Norwegian jazz musicians and ECM Recording artists play together, taking chorals written by, or attributed to, J. S. Bach as their starting point. The programme draws on pieces such as "Jesu, meine Freude", "Auf meinen lieben Gott" and "Befiel du deine Wege". It will also include compositions by both artists, and perhaps some arrangements of Irish traditional tunes and compositions. The melodies are used as mantras and as starting points for improvisation. Tord Gustavsen plays piano and Trygve Seim plays tenor and soprano saxophones. Tickets cost €30 or €28. The concert is supported by The River Lee, a Doyle Collection hotel. Tord Gustavsen has released ten albums on ECM Records with his trio and extended ensemble.
