ORT - CONCERTO DI CARNEVALE in Florence, 9 February 2027

It was founded in 1980 at the initiative of the Tuscany Region, the Province of Florence and the City of Florence. In 1983 it was recognised as an Istituzione Concertistica Orchestrale (a state-recognised concert orchestra) by the Italian Ministry of Tourism and Entertainment, under the artistic direction of Luciano Berio. The orchestra has 45 musicians.

Its rehearsals and concerts take place at Teatro Verdi, and the concerts are then repeated across the region. Daniele Spini is the current artistic director, and Diego Ceretta has been principal conductor since March 2023.
