Sei personaggi in cerca d'autore at Teatro San Leonardo, Viterbo

Sei personaggi in cerca d'autore is staged at Teatro San Leonardo in Viterbo on 31 October 2026, 20:30. Tickets start at EUR 32. The drama is by Luigi Pirandello and premiered on 9 May 1921 at the Teatro Valle in Rome.

In 1925 he added a preface to a third edition explaining the origins, aims and main themes of the work. It is regarded as the first work in his trilogy of theatre within theatre, followed by Ciascuno a suo modo and Questa sera si recita a soggetto. The story opens on a stage set up for rehearsals of the second act of Il giuoco delle parti, another Pirandello play.

Six people arrive and announce that they are characters created by an author who then chose not to write their drama. They ask the head of the company to stage it.
