Organ Ism at Treelawn Social Club

Organ Ism brings a quartet of seasoned jazz players to Treelawn Social Club for an evening of Hammond organ-led grooves. Saxophonist Howie Smith, guitarist Bob Ferrazza, organist David Thomas, and drummer Bill Ransom draw on a repertoire of original compositions and fresh takes on songs by the likes of John Lennon/Paul McCartney, Freddie Mercury, Willie Nelson, and Paul Simon. The group, which started as a trio in 2007 and expanded to a quartet in 2011, promises a blend of jazz tradition and inventive reinterpretation.

Each member brings a deep résumé: Smith has collaborated with everyone from Anthony Braxton to the Cleveland Orchestra, while Ferrazza has shared stages with Donald Byrd and Joe Lovano. Thomas has toured with Dizzy Gillespie, and Ransom has backed artists like Patrice Rushen and Najee.
