Acerca de Alasdair Beckett-King
He built a following on the UK live comedy circuit, competing in the "So You Think You're Funny?" competition in 2013 and NATYs in 2014, and won the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year award in 2017. Since 2019 he has produced comedy sketches for his own YouTube channel, writing, acting in, producing, and animating the videos himself, building an audience of several hundred thousand subscribers. His work extends into other media: he hosts the BBC Radio 4 series Wing It!, co-hosts the podcasts Loremen and Eleanor & Alasdair Read That, and has written the Montgomery Bonbon series of children's books.
His comedy frequently plays with genre conventions and absurdist premises, spanning parody, sketch, and character work rather than straightforward observational stand-up. In 2023 Chortle named him Breakthrough Comedian of the Year, recognising his crossover from online video into wider stand-up recognition, and he has appeared on television programs including Mock the Week.
Beckett-King continues to tour as a stand-up while maintaining his online sketch output, and has worked in adventure video game writing and voiced a character in the 2022 audio drama Doctor Who: Redacted.
