Acerca de Hothouse Flowers
The band's sound fuses traditional Irish music with soul, gospel and rock influences. Their 1988 debut album, People, became the most successful debut album in Irish chart history, reaching number one in Ireland and number two in the UK, and included the single "Don't Go," which peaked at number two in Ireland and reached number eleven in the UK, the band's biggest UK hit. Hothouse Flowers gained wider international attention after performing "Don't Go" as the interval act at the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest, held that year in Dublin.
The follow-up album, Home (1990), reached number one in Australia, and the group continued with Songs from the Rain (1993) before splitting and reuniting in 1998, when they released Born. Later albums Into Your Heart (2004) and Let's Do This Thing (2016) followed, alongside a cover of "I Can See Clearly Now" that found renewed popularity after appearing in the Amazon series The Grand Tour.
The band remains active with a lineup of Ó Maonlaí, Ó Braonáin, O'Toole, Dave Clarke and Martin Brunsden, continuing to tour and record.
