Nutcracker! Magical Christmas Ballet

This production of Tchaikovsky's two-act classical ballet tells the story of a young girl's Christmas Eve dream. Set at the foot of a towering Christmas tree, the narrative follows Clara as her Nutcracker doll comes to life to battle the Mouse King and whisks her away to the Land of Sweets. The plot is an adaptation of Alexandre Dumas's 1844 short story The Tale of a Nutcracker, itself a retelling of E. T. A. Hoffmann's 1816 story. The performance, featuring the Former Moscow Ballet, captures the original 1892 choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov.

Audiences can expect a sumptuous feast of dance set to Tchaikovsky's iconic score, noted for its use of the celesta in the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Since the late 1960s, The Nutcracker has become a beloved holiday tradition across North America, and this touring production continues that legacy with professional dancers and lavish costumes. The original 1892 premiere featured real children from the Imperial Ballet School in the roles of Clara and Fritz.
