À propos de Tank and the Bangas

The band blends funk, soul, hip hop, rock and spoken word into a genre-crossing sound that critics have described as representing a New Orleans sound distinct from the city's traditional jazz identity. They won the 2017 NPR Tiny Desk Contest with their song 'Quick,' with judge Bob Boilen praising the band's organic, spontaneous chemistry.

Tank and the Bangas were nominated for the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2020 and won the Grammy for Best Spoken Word Poetry Album in 2025 for The Heart, The Mind, The Soul. Their studio albums include Think Tank (2013), Green Balloon (2019), Red Balloon (2022) and The Heart, The Mind, The Soul (2024).

A Tank and the Bangas performance draws on this genre-spanning catalogue, mixing sung and spoken material with the improvisational energy that first brought the band national attention through the Tiny Desk Contest.
