The Smyths (Tribute to The Smiths)
The Smyths are an English tribute band dedicated to the Manchester group The Smiths, formed in 2003 by musicians who spent a year rehearsing before their first performance. The band concentrates on faithfully reproducing the sound of The Smiths' original 1982-1987 catalogue rather than relying on costume or novelty theatrics.

À propos de The Smyths (Tribute to The Smiths)
Now more than two decades into performing, The Smyths have completed upwards of 1,000 shows across the United Kingdom, continental Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Brazil. A 2018 feature in Vice described their frontman's between-song patter as closely mirroring Morrissey's own stage manner and portrayed the act as commanding a devoted following.
The band has drawn unusual endorsement from within the group it pays tribute to: Smiths producer and Morrissey co-writer Stephen Street called them "the most excellent tribute to The Smiths' music and legacy," praising their musicianship as "of a very high standard," while guitarist Johnny Marr has acknowledged the band in print and on radio.
Broadcaster Jeremy Vine has likewise praised the band's authenticity, saying that calling them a tribute act "is an insult" after mistaking a performance for the genuine article, and reviewers frequently note that longtime Smiths fans struggle to distinguish The Smyths' live sound from recordings of the original band.
