Children’s Book Festival Halloween Party, Helsinki

The Children’s Book Festival Halloween Party takes place at Annantalo Arts Centre in Helsinki on 31 October 2026, 11:00. It is billed as the top-secret Black Moon Halloween Party, where visitors can meet a real-life dragon. Writer Reetta Niemelä and picture book author Katri Kirkkopelto, the authors of the Musta Kuu (Black Moon) book series, will attend.

Puppeteer Alma Rajala brings the dragon to life. The programme includes two workshops. In the Troll workshop, participants make trolls from collage materials cut from magazines and glue them onto magic paper.

It is based on Satu Kettunen’s picture book Mörköjuhlat (Monster Party, Tammi 2019). In the Monster workshop, led by Pinja Meretoja, participants craft masks. They can take inspiration from her picture book Monsterit vapaalla ("Monsters on the Loose") or invent their own character.

The Monster workshop is well suited for ages 5 to 12. Visitors are welcome to dress up according to the theme.
