Colours of Ostrava

Colours of Ostrava transforms the former ironworks, mines and steelworks of Dolní Vítkovice into a sprawling open-air festival site. Concerts take place among blast furnaces and steel structures, giving this multi-genre event one of Central Europe's most dramatic industrial backdrops. It is the largest international music festival in Czechia, with 16 stages including big open-air stages, indoor stages, a theatre stage, a workshop stage, a kids' stage, a cinema and live discussion spaces.

The musical bill spans popular genres, avant-garde and world music; names on recent editions include Twenty One Pilots, Lorde, MOBY, Skunk Anansie, The Libertines and Peaches. Alongside the concerts, the Meltingpot forum brings scientists, doctors, writers, athletes and creators together for discussions on themes that resonate with society. The official mobile app lets attendees browse artists, build a personal schedule and navigate the site with an interactive map.

A visit is as much about atmosphere as programme: raw industrial architecture, big outdoor crowds and the chance to move between music and ideas. With its mix of global names, world-music discoveries and spoken-word conversations, the festival has become a summer fixture on the Central European calendar.
