The Joffrey Ballet performs at Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris from 18 to 22 March 2027. Tickets start at EUR 33. The company is directed by Ashley Wheater, and the engagement is part of the TranscenDanses season.
The programme is MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, with choreography and sets by Alexander Ekman. It is the French premiere. The work was created by the Royal Swedish Ballet in 2015 and by the Joffrey Ballet in 2018.
Mikael Karlsson wrote the music, Anna von Hausswolff provides the vocals, Nicolas Brommare plays percussion and Jorge Ivars plays piano. Bregje Van Balen designed the costumes and Linus Fellbom the lighting. The ballet explores the energy and mysteries of the summer solstice night in the Scandinavian tradition.
Alexander Ekman previously presented his Lac des cygnes at the same theatre. The Joffrey Ballet was founded in New York in 1956 by Robert Joffrey, who gave it his name. TranscenDanses is a co-production of Productions Internationales Albert Sarfati and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.
