Julia Wolf: alt-pop singer and songwriter

Julia Wolf is the stage name of Julia Jade Capello, an American singer born in 1994 or 1995. Her sound is built on ethereal vocals and self-produced alt-pop, blending indie pop, alternative rock and R&B. She first drew attention on TikTok, then released her debut EP Girls in Purgatory in 2021, followed by the studio albums Good Thing We Stayed in 2023 and Pressure in 2025.

Capello was raised in Glen Head, New York, on Long Island's North Shore, and began writing poetry and song lyrics while at North Shore High School. She later studied English literature and graduated from SUNY Purchase. Her stage name originated as a childhood nickname used by her younger sister.

She began independently releasing singles in 2019 through AWAL distribution, gaining traction on TikTok and Spotify playlists. Girls in Purgatory explored themes of femininity, vulnerability and self-image, and its lead track "Falling in Love" received blog and college-radio attention. Good Thing We Stayed, her first studio album, was released in early 2023 and combined introspective lyricism with layered electronic and guitar-driven production.

Her 2025 album Pressure moved toward darker, alt-rock textures influenced by heavy metal and grunge motifs. Capello has toured internationally, performing headline shows in North America, the UK and Australia.
