Maurizio Battista is an Italian comedian, actor and theatre director born in Rome's San Giovanni district in 1957. He began performing in theatre in 1978 and made his television debut in 1989 on the variety show Fantastico, alongside Massimo Ranieri, Anna Oxa and Giancarlo Magalli. A versatile entertainer, he has worked as a comedian, cabaret performer, television host and director across four decades of stage and screen work.
His comedy centers on everyday behavior pushed to comic excess, often built around absurd news items and public announcements. After early television appearances with Pippo Baudo, his career shifted decisively toward theatre from 2001 onward, producing dozens of one-man shows, while television credits include Colorado, Ballando con le stelle and Grande Fratello VIP. He has also appeared in films such as Rosso Malpelo and Finalmente la felicità.
