Master of Magic: A Cult Classic 4X Strategy Game

Master of Magic is a single-player, fantasy turn-based 4X strategy game where you play as a wizard attempting to dominate two linked worlds. From a small settlement, you manage resources, build cities and armies, and research spells to grow an empire and fight other wizards.

Developed by Simtex and published by MicroProse for MS-DOS in 1994, the game is sometimes described as a fantasy-themed spin-off of Civilization or Master of Orion. It has become a cult classic in its niche, with a randomly generated world each playthrough, customizable wizards, and six schools of magic inspired by Magic: The Gathering.

The game features tactical battles on an isometric map, 86 unit types, and global spells that can instantly win the game. Despite early bugs, the last official patch (version 1.31) fixed many issues, and the game was re-released on GOG.com and Steam by Slitherine Ltd., which now owns the IP.
