Broken Social Scene
Broken Social Scene is a Canadian musical collective formed in Toronto, Ontario, in 1999 by Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning. What began as a duo grew into a loose ensemble that has included anywhere from six to nineteen members at a time, built around a core of Drew and Canning on vocals, Justin Peroff on drums, Andrew Whiteman and Charles Spearin on guitars, and rotating vocalists including Leslie Feist, Emily Haines, and Amy Millan.

About Broken Social Scene
The band's sound blends indie rock with post-rock, experimental pop, and baroque pop, layering guitars, horns, woodwinds, and violins over unconventional song structures. Its breakthrough album, You Forgot It in People (2002), was followed by the self-titled Broken Social Scene (2005), Forgiveness Rock Record (2010), and Hug of Thunder (2017). The band won Juno Awards for Alternative Album of the Year in 2003 and 2006, and in 2021 Pitchfork named it among the most important artists of the preceding 25 years.
Because so many members simultaneously pursue other bands, including Metric, Feist, and Stars, Broken Social Scene has functioned less as a fixed group than as a revolving collaborative project, reconvening for albums and tours between members' individual careers.
The collective continues to record and perform, with a new album, Remember the Humans, arriving in 2026, extending a catalogue built on communal songwriting and shifting lineups on stage.
