Foo Fighters
Foo Fighters are an American rock band formed in Seattle in 1994 by Dave Grohl in the aftermath of Nirvana's breakup. What began as a set of anonymously recorded demo tapes, all performed solo by Grohl, evolved into a full band when he recruited bassist Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith from Sunny Day Real Estate and guitarist Pat Smear, who had toured with Nirvana.

About Foo Fighters
The band's lineup has evolved over three decades; Grohl on vocals and guitar remains the sole constant alongside longtime members Mendel, Smear, guitarist Chris Shiflett, and keyboardist Rami Jaffee. Drummer Taylor Hawkins, a member from 1997 until his death in March 2022, was succeeded by Ilan Rubin.
Blending alternative rock, post-grunge, and hard rock with pop songwriting instincts, Foo Fighters built their catalog on releases including The Colour and the Shape (1997), There Is Nothing Left to Lose (1999), and Wasting Light (2011). The band has won 15 Grammy Awards, including five for Best Rock Album, received the inaugural Global Icon Award at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in its first year of eligibility in 2021.
In concert, the band is known for high-energy, guitar-driven sets that move between the tightly wound choruses of their radio hits and extended live jams, a dynamic Grohl has said stemmed from the members' shared appreciation for both mainstream rock and punk influences.
