Jimmy Carr is a British-Irish stand-up comedian born in Isleworth, London in 1972. He studied social and political science at Cambridge before working in marketing at Shell, leaving the corporate world to pursue comedy full-time and performing his first paid gig in 2000.

He built his reputation on rapid, deadpan one-liners covering politics, celebrity and taboo subjects, a style that has drawn both large audiences and controversy. Beyond stand-up, he is a regular panellist and host on British television, including 8 Out of 10 Cats and The Big Fat Quiz of the Year, and has released multiple stand-up specials for Netflix.
