Membering at Sophiensæle (Festsaal), Berlin

Membering is a participatory performance by Dragana Bulut, presented at Sophiensæle (Festsaal), Sophienstraße 18, 10178 Berlin, on Thursday 12 November 2026 at 19:00. Tickets start at 25,00 €, with a reduced rate available. The piece is performed in English.

It invites the audience into a collective practice of repair, gathering around fragments, memories and inherited histories and moving through acts of restoration, therapy and archive. Starting from a personal family history of loss and war, Dragana Bulut explores social choreographies of grief and repair, tracing how grief travels across bodies, generations and collective memory over time, and how events we did not experience ourselves can become part of what we carry. Membering is not a performance about overcoming grief, but an invitation to ask how we might carry it together.

Artistic direction, choreography and performance are by Dragana Bulut, with performance by Cécile Bally, lighting design by Gustav Kleinschmidt, sound design by Jean P'arc, dramaturgy by Andrew Hardwidge, camera by Joanna Piechotta, editing by Dragana Jovanovic and production management by M.i.C.A. The production is by Dragana Bulut in co-production with Sophiensæle, funded by the Capital Cultural Fund (HKF), with media partners Missy Magazine, Siegessäule and taz.
