Richard III. at RambaZamba Theater, Berlin, 20 November 2026

Richard III. is a production directed by Julia Wissert, staged at RambaZamba Theater in Berlin on 20 November 2026, 19:30. Tickets start at EUR 30, and a discount is available.

The production questions the tradition in which Richard's physical "Missgestalt" became a symbol of moral depravity. Together with the author Antigone Akgün, Julia Wissert rewrites Shakespeare's text. Richard becomes a figure whose seizure of power grows out of exclusion, ridicule and structural ableism.

Julia Wissert focuses on the political dimensions of the play, asking who has access to power and who is allowed to be visible. The text version sits between Shakespeare's rhythm and present-day exaggeration.

The production draws on the different bodies and voices of the actors of RambaZamba Theater. RambaZamba Theater is an inclusive theatre whose programme covers drama, dance theatre, performance, music events and visual art.
