Rebels and Revolutionaries | Women’s History Tour is a tour at EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum in Dublin, running from 9 November 2026 to 8 January 2027. Sessions take place at 13:00 on 9 to 13 November 2026, 23 to 27 November 2026 and 4 to 8 January 2027. The tour focuses on women who broke out of societal shackles to make an impact around the world.
It draws attention to women left out of the history books and explores how their stories have been hidden for many years, and how historians in modern times have been revisiting and rediscovering them. The women and stories covered include Mother Jones, the Cork-born emigrant who campaigned for workers' rights in the United States, and Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell, the Northern Irish scientist who discovered the first radio pulsars. Margaret Cousins, an Irish suffragist who campaigned in Ireland, Britain and India, is also covered, as is Annie Moore, the Cork emigrant who was the first person officially processed at the newly opened Ellis Island in New York in 1892.
The tour also features Geraldine Heaney, the Irish-Canadian sporting pioneer who helped grow women's ice hockey, and Eileen Gray, the Irish designer and architect. It also looks at the changing position of women in Irish society, including the fight for voting rights, equal pay, employment equality and greater representation in public life. Tickets cost €25 for adults and start from €11 for children.
