The Specials Ltd
The Specials formed in Coventry in 1977, fusing ska and rocksteady rhythms with punk's urgency to help define the 2 Tone movement of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Singles including 'Gangsters' and 'Ghost Town' reached number one on the UK charts, the latter capturing the unrest of British inner cities in 1981.
