daniel’s destruction at Sophiensæle (Kantine), Berlin

It is in German with English surtitles and is not suitable for minors. The piece deals with the actual death of a young man forced into sex work, his close social environment and the last weeks before his death from an overdose. It illuminates an attitude to life between sex dates, intoxication and drug dealing from a vulnerable, self-critical inner perspective, and is a snapshot of social conditions and gay life experiences in today’s Berlin.

It approaches a grieving process in the midst of stigma and shame. Yannik Böhmer is the director, Nicolaas van Diepen wrote the text, Elena Kaufmann is responsible for version and dramaturgy, and the performers are Nicolaas van Diepen, Shlomi Moto Wagner and Tim-Fabian Hoffmann.

The music is by Erik Leuthäuser and Shlomi Moto Wagner. The production is by Unbestimmte Bewegung in co-production with Sophiensæle, funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion, the district of Mitte and the Akademie der Künste.
