Ton & Kirschen - Pulcinella! in Berlin, 26 August 2027

Ton & Kirschen - Pulcinella! is a theatre performance at the Überdachte Freiluftbühne, Viktoriastraße 10-18, in Berlin on Thursday, 26 August 2027, at 20:00. Tickets start at 28.50 euros, and a discount is available.

The Ton und Kirschen Wandertheater returns to the covered open-air stage of the ufaFabrik in August 2027, after its performance of Georg Büchner's "Woyzeck" in the 2026 summer season. The piece centres on Pulcinella, a figure and masquerade that grew out of Italian folk theatre. In German-speaking regions his counterpart was Hanswurst of the fairground stages and travelling theatres, as well as Kasper of hand-puppet theatre.

The production asks who Pulcinella is: a human, a demon or a god, and whether he laughs at the world or weeps behind a mask he never removes. Direction is by Margarete Biereye and David Johnston.

Stage design and lighting are by Daisy Watkiss, and the masks were built by Joséphine Biereye. The organiser is Internationales Kultur Centrum ufaFabrik e.V.
