Sebastian Boulter: FLOW at Cultural Centre Malmitalo, Helsinki

Sebastian Boulter: FLOW is an exhibition at Cultural Centre Malmitalo in Helsinki, running from 22 October to 14 November 2026. In the show at Malmitalo Gallery, Boulter presents oil and watercolor paintings. Between 2020 and 2024 he researched five Greek rivers, all of which border or run through sites explored by the German Archaeological Institute at Athens.

The rivers are the Eridanos at the Kerameikos in Athens, the Imbrasos at the sanctuary of Hera in Samos, the Alpheios at the sanctuary of Zeus in Olympia, the Inachos at the Mycenian citadel in Tiryns and the Kephissos at the Kephissos valley in ancient Phokis. The paintings depict the condition of the rivers as well as some findings from them, which refers to contemporary archaeology. The exhibition has been supported by The Finnish Arts and Culture Agency.
